What 'unofficial fan art' means here

Some of our graphics reference bands, films and comics. We want to be precise about what that means, because the phrases people use — fan art, tribute, vintage, bootleg — do not all mean the same thing, and none of them automatically grant a right to sell.

Our classification

We describe this catalogue as unofficial fan art. That is a merchandising description, not a licence. It means the artwork was made by us in reference to a work we admire, and it is not licensed, endorsed, sponsored or approved by any band, label, studio or rights holder.

What we do not claim

  • We do not claim affiliation with any artist or rights holder.
  • We do not imply that a purchase supports the original artist.
  • We do not describe a design as official, authorised or authentic merchandise.

What happens if a rights holder objects

Rights are reviewed per artwork, and every design carries a provenance note. If a rights holder contacts us about a specific design, we stop selling that design while the question is reviewed, and we do not relist it automatically.

If you are a rights holder, contact us and we will respond directly.
